#1 About This Event
This is *real* language exchange!
After getting settled and learning about your partners, you will have a chance to learn Japanese during Japanese time, and teach English to them during English time. We take turns being students and teachers!
We will provide everything you need, but we encourage you to bring your own materials (pens, notebooks, textbooks) if you want to keep your notes organized and/or want to study something specifically.
#2 RSVP System (Wednesday Meetup)
RSVPs open: Sunday at 5pm (exactly after Sunday’s meetup is finished)
Initial spots: 8 (each side)
Maximum spots: 10~16 (each side, including organizers)
Other info: If you couldn’t sign up in time, go on the waitlist and wait for a spot! Priority will be given to people who haven’t had a chance to join the meetup yet.
#2 Fees, Membership System, & Advanced Pay
The fees collected from this meetup go towards paper and other materials, Meetup fees, time spent organizing and developing original materials, and a small budget for social events.
After attending at least 5 meetups and having your account in good standing, you can get a membership card. From there, you can collect stamps for attending, and every 5 stamps you can attend a free or discounted meetup!
If you don’t carry cash all the time, you can pay in advance (e-transfer or cash) and we’ll remember how much balance you have.
1. When you arrive, please look for Rudo (or other organizers). You’ll be put in a group with people around your level, and given a paper (and pen if you need).
2. You’ll speak either English or Japanese, and you will be given assignments/exercises to do together.
3. At around 7:20, there will be a small break.
4. After the break, you will switch languages, and will be given new assignments/exercises to do.
5. We finish at 8:20.
#5 Last-Minute Cancellation & No-Show Policy
If you put ‘Going’, please commit to coming. Please don’t cancel at the last minute (after 5pm the day of the event), or just not show up at all. It’s super rude, and it’s not fair to other members. If something happens and you absolutely can’t make it, please send us a message at least.
No show, no message = Removed from the group
No show, message with explanation = One strike (“X”)
Last minute cancellation = One strike (“X”)
Two strikes = Temporary suspension from the group
Three strikes = Removed from the group (You’re out!)
To remove strikes, please attend on time normally a few times. We know this is strict, but this is to ensure a great event for everyone. Thank you for understanding.
